摘要: Field and laboratory observations have indicated that the “fractionation” mechanism, whereby bulk of solute in seasonal snowcover is removed early meltwater fractions, a differential process. Some soluble ions may be at faster rates than others. This process known as “preferential elution”. Since not yet universally accepted amongst scientists who engage research into snowmelt chemistry, this chapter we review pertinent experimental work. Varying conditions real snowpacks often militate against reproducible elution sequences, although sodium chloride are consistently found to least mobile upon melt. Laboratory experiments provided more controlled under which examine relative removal meltwater. Those ice seen less melt, whereas eluted rapidly regarded being strongly partitioned solute-rich surficial liquid, or quasi-liquid, layer. In melting snowpacks, preferential some by can masked snowpack-scale hydrology.
