摘要: Prenatal alcohol exposure can interfere with endocrine function and have sex-specific effects on behavior. Disrupted development of the pituitary gland, which has been observed in rodent studies, may account for some these effects. To determine if gestational to produces measureable changes human adolescents, we manually traced T1-weighted structural magnetic resonance images (MRI) from adolescents (15 males, 11 females) without (16 heavy prenatal exposure. Pituitary gland volume maximum signal intensity were examined group differences. Control female presented significantly greater compared as previously reported. However, this sexual dimorphism was absent histories Alcohol-exposed regardless sex, demonstrated reduced controls. The lack a sex difference volumes within alcohol-exposed suggests such adolescent typical pituitary. Signal posterior reflect vasopressin storage. Our findings suggest activity should be evaluated adolescents.
