摘要: Sixteen women with endometriosis were treated daily subcutaneous injections of a potent agonist gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) for six months. Ovarian estrogen secretion was reduced to castrate levels during most the course treatment. Blinded evaluation laparoscopic photographs confirmed marked suppression visually apparent disease, but biopsy specimens showed occult, inactive in cases. Marked pain relief noted by all patients. As result this "medical oophorectomy," experienced severe hot flashes, and many had insomnia emotional disturbances. Vaginal cytology menopausal changes related symptoms generally mild. Calcium excretion rose levels. High-density lipoprotein total cholesterol remained unchanged. These results indicate that GnRH administration has impressive effects on endometriotic implants, these actions may be enhanced longer therapy. Further development new form therapy should involve either use lesser degrees ovarian or adjunctive counter side oophorectomy."
