摘要: The tendon enthesis is a fibrocartilaginous tissue critical for transfer of muscle forces to bone. Enthesis pathologies are common, and surgical repair bone plagued by high failure rates. At the root these failures gap in knowledge how formed maintained. We tested hypothesis that primary cilium hub transducing biophysical hedgehog (Hh) signals regulate formation adaptation loading. Primary cilia were necessary development, assembly was coincident with Hh signaling mineralization. Cilia responded inversely loading; increased loading led decreased cilia. responses dependent on through Results imply role as mechanical responders signal transducers, providing therapeutic target pathologies.
