摘要: In East African Lake Victoria >200 endemic species of haplochromine fishes have been described on the basis morphological and behavioral differences. Yet molecular analysis has failed to reveal any species-specific differences among these in either mitochondrial or nuclear genes. Although genes could be shown vary, variations represent trans-species polymorphisms not yet assorted along lines. Nevertheless, fixed genetic must exist between at loci responsible for adaptive characters distinguishing various forms from one another. Here we describe variation fixation long wavelength-sensitive (LWS) opsin locus, which is selection-driven, adaptive, if species- then least population-specific. Because color perception plays an important part food acquisition mate choice, suggest that observed LWS locus may involved process led spectacular divergence Victoria.
