摘要: Quaking (QKI) is a gene exclusively expressed within glial cells. QKI has previously been implicated in various neurological disorders and diseases, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), condition for which increasing evidence suggests central role of glia The objective the present study was to investigate expression levels three isoforms (QKI5, QKI6, QKI7) AD. Genes that have related ontogeny progression AD, specifically APP, PSEN1, PSEN2, MAPT, were also investigated. A real-time PCR assay 123 samples from human postmortem sporadic AD patients control brains performed. values analyzed with an analysis covariance model subsequent multiple regressions explore possibility between QKI, isoforms, AD-related genes. Further, sequences genes presence binding domains. all measured found be significantly upregulated samples, relative samples. However, MAPT not different. predictive variance putative sites interaction QKI. Overall, these results implicate possible although exact mechanism by this occurs remains uncovered.
