摘要: Two different magnetometer surveys in northern Wisconsin during the summers of 1997 and 2010, using two Geometrics magnetometers, a proton precession G-816 unit cesium vapor G-858 unit, an attempt to locate surface-target position of, depth to, abandoned 1948 private water well, successfully targeted suspect surface well head spike. Both detected 400-gamma anomalies estimated spike at 2 meters. A land owner, family photograph taken 1951, was used compare anomaly’s actual well. Two, one meter deep pits were hand dug 2004, excavate, remove replace spike; however, not successful due large trees, roots, available equipment. For aesthetic reasons, owners reluctant cut trees down that time order continue excavation. After survey, second excavation made, no future attempts are planned this time.
