Neuropsychological characterization of the AIDS dementia complex: a preliminary report.

摘要: The AIDS dementia complex (ADC) is a frequent complication of advanced HIV infection. In order to better define the neuropsychological character and progression ADC, four groups subjects were studied with battery tests: an HIV-seronegative comparison group (n = 20), asymptomatic HIV-seropositive patients 16), newly diagnosed 44) who referred for neurological consultation 40). Results showed significant reductions in performance two groups, impairment being most prominent tests that assessed motor speed fine control, concentration, problem solving visuospatial performance. This pattern dysfunction consistent characterization ADC as subcortical dementia.
