摘要: Neurons in culture rely on the supply of exogenous cysteine for their glutathione synthesis. After application to neuron-rich primary cultures, content was doubled after a 4-hr incubation. The dipeptide cysteinylglycine (CysGly) able substitute as precursor. In kidneys, ectopeptidase aminopeptidase N (ApN) has been reported hydrolyze CysGly. Expression mRNA ApN rat brain and cultured neurons demonstrated by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction sequencing cDNA fragment obtained. addition, presence protein its immunocytochemical localization. an activity-inhibiting antiserum against utilization CysGly neuronal precursor completely prevented, whereas that plus glycine not affected. data presented demonstrates express this participates glutathione. © 2001 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
