摘要: Background: n-3 Fatty acid supplementation lowered serum triacylglycerol concentrations in studies which most of the subjects were male. The effects fatty postmenopausal women receiving and not hormone replacement therapy (HRT) have received little attention. Objective: We sought to determine a fish-oil-derived concentrate on lipid lipoprotein risk factors for cardiovascular disease HRT, with an emphasis ratio HDL cholesterol. Design: Postmenopausal (n = 36) grouped according exogenous use randomly allocated receive 8 capsules/d either placebo oil (control) or acid-enriched (supplement). supplement provided 2.4 g eicosapentaenoic (EPA) plus 1.6 docosahexaenoic (DHA) daily. Serum lipids composition phospholipids determined days 0 28. Results: Supplementation acids was associated 26% lower (P < 0.0001), 28% overall cholesterol 0.01), markedly greater EPA DHA 0.05). Conclusions: These results show that can favorably influence selected factors, particularly by achieving marked reductions triacylglycerol:HDL HRT. This approach could potentially reduce coronary heart 27% women.
