摘要: Posterior tilting of the tibial component is thought to increase range motion in posterior cruciate-retaining total knee replacement, but its effect on implant cruciate-substituting replacement unknown. This issue has become interest recently because manufacturers have introduced instrumentation that produces a posteriorly tilted cut for both types. The purpose this study was investigate how affected when installed with tilt. Sagittal plane motions were predicted from prosthesis geometry use computer simulation which femoral condyles assumed sit bottoms condylar wells extension. Rollback produced by cam-spine mechanism at higher angles flexion. simulations revealed even small degrees tilt reduced rollback limiting interaction between cam and spine. Tilting 5 caused contact spine flexion angle 18 than untilted component. results suggest may not produce same beneficial effects been reported components replacement.
