摘要: Abstract A methylene chloride extract of the spice, cinnamon, Cinnamomum aromaticum Nees, was shown to be insecticidal Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. The contact, fumigant antifeedant effects cinnamaldehyde were tested against T. adults larvae S. adults. showed similar susceptibility contact toxicity cinnamaldehyde, both having an LC50 0.7 mg cm−2 LC95 0.9 cm−2. However, had a higher level than zeamais, with values 0.28 0.54 cm−2, respectively, 0.32 1.78 respectively. more susceptible actions cinnamaldehyde. became less age. flour disk bioassay using no-choice tests employed study activity insects on consumption utilisation food by insects. Cinnamaldehyde no significant (P > 0.05) diet growth action them at concentrations up 13.6 g−1 food. this compound significantly insects' utilisation. Antifeedant observed increase increasing concentrations. combined properties make it potentially useful grain protectant.
