摘要: The Drosophila wing is formed by two cell populations, the anterior and posterior compartments, which are distinguished activity of selector gene engrailed (en) in cells. Here, we show that en governs growth patterning both compartments controlling expression secreted proteins hedgehog (hh) decapentaplegic (dpp) as well response cells to these signaling molecules. First, demonstrate programs express hh whereas absence them respond expressing dpp. As a consequence, secrete induce stripe neighboring across compartment boundary Second, dpp can exert long-range organizing influence on surrounding tissue, specifying or pattern depending compartmental provenance, hence state activity, responding Thus, along has capacity organize development compartments. Finally, report evidence suggesting may its acting gradient morphogen contrast appears act principally short range inducer
