摘要: Objective Colorectal emergency requiring radical surgery is becoming increasingly frequent in the elderly and problems remain as regards best management policy. Our long-time experience presented this study. Patients methods In last 23 years, 105 patients, aged ≥ 65 years, with colorectal disease underwent an operation our Surgical Department. Forty-five patients (mean age 72 years) had benign 60 76.5 years) carcinoma. Results The carcinoma was located left colon (68%), right (18%) rectum (14%). Mostly, malignant cancer obstructive ileus, tumours perforation peritonitis, a predominance of diverticulitis. A resection either primary anastomosis or Hartmann's procedure performed 75% cases; rest, only palliation resorted to. Forty-three per cent were ≥80 years age. mean morbidity 25% mortality 17%, which make up to 33% 26.6% for disease, 20% 10% cancer, respectively. rate higher than those obstruction.
