摘要: Biotherapy including interleukin-2 (IL-2) treatment seems to be more effective outside the central nervous system when compared effects obtained same tumour is located intracerebrally. Recently published studies suggest that reduced activity of NK cells in tissue can increased by histamine. The present study was designed determine whether IL-2 and histamine, alone or combination, induce anti-tumour an orthotopic rat glioma model. One group rats treated with histamine (4 mg kg–1s.c. as daily injections from day 6 after intracranial implantation), another a continuous subcutaneous infusion third both IL-2. animals were sacrificed at 24 implantation. combination significantly growth. microvessel density reduced, effect mainly affecting small vessels. No obvious alteration pattern VEGF mRNA expression evident no significant changes apoptosis observed. Neither nor caused any detectable on Histamine early pronounced decline blood flow normal brain. results indicate novel value reducing intracerebral growth and, thus, it might interest re-evaluate therapeutic potential biotherapy malignant glioma. © 2000 Cancer Research Campaign
