Understanding 'smart cities': Intertwining development drivers with desired outcomes in a multidimensional framework

摘要: The convergence of technology and the city is commonly referred to as ‘smart city’. It seen a possible remedy for challenges that urbanisation creates in age global climate change, an enabler sustainable liveable urban future. A review abundant but fragmented literature on smart theories practices, nevertheless, reveals there limited effort capture comprehensive understanding how complex multidimensional nature drivers cities are linked desired outcomes. paper aims develop clearer this new model by identifying linking key outcomes, then intertwining them framework. methodological approach research includes systematic cities, focusing those aimed at conceptual development provide empirical evidence base. identifies three types cities— community, technology, policy—which five outcomes—productivity, sustainability, accessibility, wellbeing, liveability, governance. These outcomes altogether assemble framework, where each represents distinctive dimension notion. This helps expanding our beyond monocentric focus current common practice.
