摘要: Synaptic plasticity alters the strength of information flow between presynaptic and postsynaptic neurons thus modifies likelihood that action potentials in a neuron will lead to an potential neuron. As such, synaptic pathological changes impact computation which controls through neural microcircuits responsible for complex processing necessary drive adaptive behaviors. current theories neuropsychiatric disease suggest distinct dysfunctions circuit performance may critically underlie unique symptoms these diseases, alterations mechanisms be fundamental process. Here we consider both short-term long-term transmission their possible roles by health disease. paradigms diseases with strongly implicated risk genes, discuss findings schizophrenia autism network function observed human studies genetic mouse models diseases. Together have begun point towards likely dominant role while dysfunction spectrum disorders due combination alterations.
