摘要: Pesticide use in Costa Rica is very high and all year round. A percentage of what sprayed remains the environment living organisms around. This situation brings contamination health problems to people contact with them. The onset adverse effects may be short or long term, symptoms vary widely, from headaches cancer. Much research this area has been devoted acute chronic effects, not until recently genotoxic effect pesticides. study evaluated pesticides used banana packing activities, using comet assay (single cell electrophoresis) as biological marker lymphocytes. was a case-control double blind 30 exposed women 15 farms 28 occupationally same geographic area. Results show damage single stranded DNA after working 5 years (R2 = 0.12).
