摘要: Evidence suggests that indigenous populations have suffered disproportionately from past influenza pandemics. To examine any such patterns for Māori in New Zealand, we searched the literature and performed new analyses by using additional datasets. The death rate 1918 pandemic (4,230/100,000 population) was 7.3× European rate. In 1957 pandemic, (40/100,000) 6.2× 2009 higher than (rate ratio 2.6, 95% confidence interval 1.3–5.3). These findings suggest some decline pandemic-related ethnic inequalities rates over century. Nevertheless, persistent excess adverse outcomes Māori, Pacific persons residing highlights need improved public health responses.
