摘要: Current knowledge of the microbial diversity and metabolic pathways involved in hydrocarbon degradation petroleum reservoirs is still limited, mostly due to difficulty recovering complex community from such an extreme environment. Metagenomics a valuable tool investigate genetic functional previously uncultured microorganisms natural environments. Using function-driven metagenomic approach, we investigated abilities communities oil reservoirs. Here, describe novel biodegradation aromatic compounds library obtained reservoir. Although many deduced proteins shared homology with known enzymes different well-described aerobic anaerobic catabolic pathways, fragments did not contain complete clusters be degradation. Instead, comprised genes belonging showing gene arrangements. These results reinforce potential approach for identification elucidation new poorly studied environments contribute broader perspective on processes
