摘要: Abstract Conflicts with fisheries are the major threat to South American sea lions (Otaria flavescens). The understanding of gap between perceived economic impact by fishermen and actual on activity is crucial avoid retaliations species. This first study conducted in Brazil that simultaneously assessed these both aspects this complex issue. To assess revenue loss caused lions, we 58 onboard surveys 2011 2012, covering 161 fishing operations. socio-economic characteristics, perceptions temporal changes activity, interviewed one hundred fishermen. Onboard observations indicated interact boats throughout year. finding agreement reports most (69%) who believed interaction occurs every day species always present during operations (80%).
