摘要: Polyethyleneimine (PEI) is a polycationic compound frequently used as transfection agent. However, cytotoxicity of PEI and PEI-coated nanoparticles (PEI NPs) still major obstacle in its use. In this study we report method for reducing NPs by addition glutathione synthesis. Glutathione reduced cytotoxic effects at least 30% decreased observed oxidative stress response compared to standard formulation. Results showed that the effect was partially due zeta potential protective antioxidant properties glutathione. Addition cell culture media with concurrent exposure proved be insufficient reduction. Additionally, internalization pathways both GSH NPs. were only found endosomes no free cytosol, would expected according so called proton sponge hypothesis.
