OSI Reference Model--The ISO Model of Architecture for Open Systems Interconnection

摘要: Considering the urgency of need for standards which would allow constitution heterogeneous computer networks, ISO created a new subcommittee "Open Systems Interconnection" (ISO/ TC97/SC 16) in 1977. The first priority 16 was to develop an architecture open systems interconnection could serve as framework definition standard protocols. As result 18 months studies and discussions, SC16 adopted layered comprising seven layers (Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, Application). In July 1979 specifications this architecture, established by SC16, were passed under name "OSI Reference Model" Technical Committee 97 "Data Processing" along with recommendations start officially, on basis, set protocols standardization projects cover most urgent needs. These T.C97 at end basis following development Open Interconnectlon within ISO. OSI Model also recognized CCITT Rapporteur's Group "Layered Public Network Services." This paper presents model Interconnection developed SC16. Some indications are given initial will-likely be Model.
