摘要: Prediction of the behavior partially encased composite (PEC) columns by finite-element modeling presents a challenging problem due to local buckling thin steel flange plates and rapid volumetric expansion concrete near ultimate load. The use dynamic explicit formulation damage plasticity model has permitted good predictions capacities both uniaxially eccentrically loaded PEC column tests reported in literature. provides representations axial deformation at peak load, postpeak behavior, failure mode observed those tests. is also capable predicting effect different link spacings on as well determining individual contributions total load carrying capacity these columns. In addition description methodology, discussion results studies from three experimental programs encompassing wide variety geometries loading conditions presented this paper.
