Eggshell membrane as a novel bio sorbent for remediation of boron from desalinated water.

摘要: This study investigated the use of eggshell membrane (ESM) as a bio-sorbent and effect temperature, pH, initial concentration on its efficiency. Furthermore, by altering chemical composition, modified (MESM) was prepared, efficiency compared with ESM. Results showed that adsorption boron preferred an acidic condition; pH 6 at 35 °C. In addition, positive value ΔH° suggested reaction favored endothermic pathway, while negative for ΔG° further process spontaneous. ESM could adsorb 97% boron, MESM able to 95%. From Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), different functional groups were recorded surface MESM, they played key role in mechanisms. Linear Freundlich model best describe experimental data 99.4% correlation coefficient.
