摘要: Abstract Microcontinents separate due to ridge jumps associate either asymmetric sea floor spreading or plume–ridge interactions. India separated from Seychelles at ∼64 Ma by initially when the centre in Mascarene Basin jumped towards Indian sub-continent between magnetic chrons C29 and C28. The subsequent tectonics is difficult comprehend since Laxmi Ridge-another microcontinent-formed during later phase. Most of studies considered Ridge as a sliver. Others it be oceanic crust. High resolution, deep (∼25 km) seismic data reveals that (i) possesses > 15 km sea-ward dipping reflector (SDR) packages; (ii) normal faulted rift valleys devoid syn-rift sedimentary (iii) axial magma chambers 5–7 km beneath top. Additionally, 2D forward gravity models we deduce most possibly comprises high density (oceanic) We conclude indeed composed crust fossil centre. thus identified their relation microcontinent separation. Previous numerical suggest time required for jump controlled magmatic heating, rate ridge, plate ages. For repeated jumps, additional factor dynamic plume lithosphere terms melt transfer heating. find medium rates heating Reunion young plates favoured rapid plume.
