摘要: A 16S rDNA sequence cloned directly from whole-gut microbiota of the American cockroach, Periplaneta americana, indicated presence a member Bacteroides/Flavobacterium group most closely related to genus Flavobacterium. In an attempt confirm this finding, we isolated yellow-pigmented bacterium (strain FR2) hindgut insect. Strain FR2 was phylogentically and phenotypically similar species Flavobacterium bacteria, namely Chryseobacterium indologenes. Fifty-four other bacteria during 1-year study shared salient phenotypic characteristics spp., thus were considered same phenotype. This phenotype's abundance fiber content insect diet, being consistently detected only in cockroaches fed high-fiber diet (30% crude by weight). The highest population density hindgut, ranging 2 x 10(6) 1.2 10(7) colony forming units ml(-1) period. nature symbiosis between phenotype P. americana is discussed.
