摘要: SCID mice provide an excellent platform for cancer research. Because of their lack immunity, readily succumb to infectious pathogens and therefore must be maintained in SPF, barrier-protected environment. Although SPF barrier facilities prevent infection, remain prone premature death due part a high prevalence spontaneous thymic lymphomas. However, little is known about nonthymic tumors mice. We analyzed the incidence tumor our defined-flora C.B-17/Icr-SCID/Sed examined histopathologic characteristics. necropsied 1060 retired breeders (506 males, 554 females; average ages 325 320 d, respectively) found that 24 had developed tumors, yielding 2.26% (1.78% males; 2.71% females). The was substantially lower than lymphomas (12.3% 4.15% Based on histopathology, 9 male consisted 4 salivary gland myoepitheliomas, 2 rhabdomyosarcomas, 3 cases leukemia involving multiple organs. Female 15 consisting 8 mammary adenocarcinomas, 1 case each leukemia, rhabdomyosarcoma, fibrosarcoma. In addition, we tested vivo transplantability characterized growth behavior several these tumors. To knowledge, this report first comprehensive description including myoepitheliomas from same mouse colony.
