摘要: Gametophytes are more abundant thou sporophytes in wave exposed rocky intertidal populations of Iridaea laminarioides Bory Central Chile. In this study we experimental tested the differential effects selected ecological factors on karyologically different life history phases. field, gametophytes dominated at higher elevation and during summer; tetrasporophytes were most low fall. Laboratory responses correlated with these patterns. exhibited greater desiccation tolerance than tetrasporophytes. Optimum growth occurred temperatures (20°C) longer photoperiods (16:8 h LD) (15°C 12:12 LD). Grazing preferences changed developmental stage alga, but all herbivores had increased preference for diploid tissues as compared to haploid. Number spores produced respect total plant surface, or settlement their germination rate did not show significant differences between phases showed great variability space time. Spontaneous spore release, however, was always cystocarpic tetrasporangial thalli. Such a combination results suggests that some real exist two I. laminarioides. permit prediction vertical temporal patterns distribution both Horizontal cannot be explained because several selection probably interact differently various habitats.
