摘要: Abstract Some species of the genus Iridaea (Rhodophyta, Gigartinales) are harvested as a source phycocolloid carrageenan which finds use gelling and viscosity regulating agent in many food, industrial biomedical products. In temperate seas northern southern hemispheres where they occur, amy also be conspicuous components marine communities on rocky shores. this study, we discuss what is known about relationship between environmental factors distribution, growth production selected Iridaea. Such information limited to only few currently from wild populations, or prospects for such harvesting, candidates aquaculture elements communities. Improved management existing populations provide sustained yields commercial cultivation supplement stocks will require additional research.
