Horizontal transmission of hepatitis B virus in children with chronic hepatitis B

摘要: AIM: To determine the possible routes of intrafamilial transmission pattern in pediatric cases chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. METHODS: In this descriptive retrospective study, 302 children with HBV infection from 251 families and their parents attending Social Security Children’s Hospital Doctor Sami Ulus Hopsital Ankara between December 1998 May 2000, were enrolled in. Screenings diagnosis infections established according to Consensus 2000. RESULTS: studied infection, mothers 38% fathers 23% HBsAg positive. The positivity at least two siblings same family was 61% when both positive. CONCLUSION: It is well known that horizontal quite common countries where Hepatitis Virus moderately endemic. our best knowledge, largest series observed regarding Turkey. necessary expand preventive programs target not only newborn period but also all stages childhood.
