摘要: A prospective longitudinal study of neuropsychological and psychosocial functioning in a methadone-maintained population was initiated to test the hypothesis that cognitive impairments may be present early course HIV infection, before onset other physical symptoms. total 220 methadone-clinic patients without evidence HIV-related illnesses were given baseline psychological screening tests, as well serological testing for antibodies. At baseline, 83 (38%) had antibodies 137 (62%) did not. On initial testing, controlling race/ethnicity, age, sex drug use, seropositives more cognitively impaired than seronegatives. The differences statistically significant three subtests on univariate analysis: finger tapping (dominant), digit span (forward) similarities. Ninety-one whose current status known follow-up assessments after mean interval 7.4 months from testing. follow-up, continued seronegatives, but there no deterioration performance over time interval.
