摘要: What is the genetic architecture of morphological evolution? Is there uniform potential for novelty across a genome or, on contrary, can small number large-effect genes explain phenotypic variation observed within and between species? Here we highlight recent work butterfly wing pattern genetics showing that set loci be repeatedly involved in evolution complex traits. These behave as genomic hotspots diversification because they underlie adaptive species with both convergent highly divergent patterns. findings suggest certain may more likely than others to facilitate rapid evolutionary change.
