摘要: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is a pathological process caused by damage of the mandibular condyle. When this event takes place in subjects during developmental age, it results an alteration entire maxillofacial complex. Therefore, surgical methods able to remove temporomandibular also include necessary operations correct secondary deformity. The distraction osteogenesis has induced our center modify protocol for therapy patients who have developed TMJ and maxillomandibular We treated four with monolateral serious deformities complex functional limitation. During same operation, arthroplasty was performed removal ankylotic block interposition temporal muscle flap new articular space; intraoral osteodistractor positioned lengthen mandible. All showed recovery eurhythmy face good re-establishment symmetry. An average 12-month follow-up opening mouth be at least 35 mm. combination osteodistraction provides aesthetic affected deformities.
