摘要: Edge localized modes (ELMs) represent a challenge to future fusion devices, owing cyclical high peak heat fluxes on divertor plasma facing surfaces. One ameliorating factor has been that the flux characteristic profile width observed broaden with size of ELM, as compared inter-ELM profile. In contrast, narrow during ELMs under certain conditions in NSTX. Here we show ELM increases number filamentary striations observed, i.e. narrowing is zero or very few striations. Because NSTX often lies long wavelength current-driven mode side ideal MHD instabilities, structures can be expected many conditions. ITER also projected lie current driven low-n stability boundary, and therefore detailed projections unstable ensuing needed.
