摘要: Above the mountain forest, at altitude higher than 3000 m, Carabidae fauna of Cordillera de Merida (Venezuela) can be divided according to several altitudinal levels. The periglacial areas, above 4000 Polylepis between 3500 and 4200 paramos have ecologically endemic faunas, entirely isolated from other cordilleras different forest fauna. They separated by limits, arising probably paramo fragmentation in glacial era. Quebrada Gavidia 3700 m separates Sierra Nevada central sierras while San Pedro passes, southwest 2600 separate three sierras, reaching altitudes southwestern paramos, which are lower m.
