摘要: Abstract A radiometric technique has been developed capable of measuring specimen surface temperatures as low 25°C with a time resolution ∼1 μs. The application this to SHPB tests at strain rates the order 1000/s in both tension and torsion is described. In test results are obtained during uniform deformation, using single element radiometer, localised deformation onset fracture, 12-element radiometer. same radiometer was used obtain temperature distribution along each half broken immediately after fracture. proportion work converted heat, β , calculated data from found vary increasing plastic approximately 0.2 approaching 0.7.
