摘要: Individual preparation, or the lack thereof, for occurrences of external events that threaten well-being individuals is an issue worldwide concern. The present studies were designed to investigate impact a particular type persuasive communication (i.e., fear-arousing negative threat appeals) on preparedness behavior regarding possible occurrence damaging earthquake. A general model coping, person-relative-to-event (PrE) model, emphasizing relationship between level appraised and person resources, was applied this issue. It predicted appeals using combinations levels factors cause appraise their resources as sufficient in quantity quality obviate minimize consequences threatening earthquake would increase greater extent than communications do not.
