摘要: Objective: To determine the pattern of histopathological diagnoses in patients undergoing thyroid operations. Material and Method: This descriptive study was carried out at Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad over a period 3 years from May 2005 to April 2008. Patients having goiters and undergoing different types thyroid surgeries for indications were included this study. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) performed with nodule or dominant compared postoperative histopathology. Those who underwent only FNAC but not operated excluded study. Results: Out 140 surgical specimens, 125 (89%) diagnosed be nonneoplastic lesions more common females. Adenomatous goiter most common variety benign lesions accounting 60% all nodules. Papillary carcinoma the commonest malignancy observed malignancies seen. Conclusion: Benign than malignant ones. goiter was commonest lesion gland while papillary most common tumor gland.
