摘要: Although African Americans are at increased risk of cancer morbidity and mortality, very little is known about their psychological adjustment. American males may be especially high risk, considering disproportionately higher mortality. Subjects were 42 56 White adults similar in age, stage, marital status, socioeconomic status. Analyses revealed no significant race or gender effects on global indices adjustment, depression, anxiety. However, more likely than Whites (a) to use avoidant coping strategies dealing with the exigencies illness, (b) report cancer-related disruption family relations, (c) identify fewer individuals social support network. No differences found a measure health care satisfaction. These findings highlight need provide comprehensive examination individual, family, socioecological variables relationship adaptation among minorities cancer.
