Quaternary ammonium‐functionalized polymers in biodegradable matrices: Physicochemical properties, morphology, and biodegradability

摘要: Quaternary ammonium-functionalized polymers (QAFPs) based on branched structures of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) were blended with neat matrices PLA PCL to improve their processability in the melt phase at 160 °C. Different formulations prepared by varying proportions components blends (0, 10, 20, 50, 60 wt % QAFP). The rheological behavior each component was studied 160 °C dynamic mechanical analyses carried out. thermal properties also investigated thermogravimetric differential scanning calorimetry; they found be affected presence QAFPs within them. All had a dispersed morphology, highlighted electron microscopy. water contact angle showed that hydrophilicity surfaces increased increasing QAFP content. biodegradability both investigated: decrease biodegradation kinetics observed due quaternary ammonium groups, but materials remain biodegradable. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
