摘要: Background: Besides anatomically-based radiodiagnostics, functional imaging may be used for characterizing soft tissue sarcomas (STS). This study evaluates positron emission tomography (PET) with three different radiotracers (fluorine-18 deoxyglucose [FDG], carbon-11 aminoisobutyric acid [AIB] and oxygen-15-labeled water [O15-water]) STS the detection of local recurrence. Patients Methods: 21 patients presented 9 primary STS, 5 recurrent 10 lesions suspicious recurrence (radiological tomography). Standardized uptake values (SUV) were calculated in tumor normal tissues (muscle/blood vessels). Surgery pathological examination or follow-up data referred to as control criteria. Results : All tracers accumulated no difference between locally tumors. The was increased compared muscle (FDG, P < 0.0001, AIB, = 0.0039; O15-water, 0.002) blood vessels FDG (P 0.0001) well AIB 0.0038). Of suspected recurrence, 6 neither PET criteria nor failure specimens during follow-up, while 4 cases positive scans ultimately diagnosed failure. Conclusion: FDG, O15-water shown accumulate histologic type. A precise differentiation from found all tracers. differentiated viable vessels. using is suitable sarcoma
