A Glycopeptide from the Posterior Lobe of Pig Pituitaries

摘要: An extract from the posterior lobes of pig pituitaries contains a glycopeptide with molecular mass 3200 (± 5%). The is present in amounts same order as hormones oxytocin and vasopressin. The peptide portion composed seventeen amino acid residues: aspartic or asparagine (3), threonine (1), serine proline glycine (2), alanine leucine (3) arginine (1). carbohydrate portion, about 55% by weight, fucose galactose mannose glucosamine (4). exhibits none known physiological activities hypophysis except for slight lipolytic activity.
