Useful Brazilian plants under the view of the writer-naturalist João Guimarães Rosa

摘要: This study shows the results of a wide but non-exhaustive review on plants cited in literacy work writer-naturalist Joao Guimaraes Rosa (J.G. Rosa). Information about popular names and use were recovered through seven works author. The assignment scientific was based other previous ethnobotanical studies performed similar areas Cerrado Minas Gerais state. For each species, data their presence Brazilian Official Pharmacopoeia, or for preparing commercial products checked. A total 964 recovered, 59 them being more frequently cited. From citations, 57 native species have described by author curiously, only thirteen are referred to as medicinal. It is assumed that literature from J.G. very rich utility Cerrado; however, present his interest rather literary (poetic) creation, we demystify supposition.
