摘要: Mindfulness-based interventions are believed to counteract cognitive biases that exacerbate and physiological reactivity emotional experiences contribute the development persistence of psychopathology. One process by which mindful practices may produce such salutary effects is enhancing capacity "decenter"-or adopt a self-distanced, nonjudgmental perspective on conscious (e.g., thoughts, memories, feelings). Findings consistently indicate decentering, assessed via self-report, represents an important aspect mental health well-being; however, numerous researchers have called for more objective measures skills associated with mindfulness decentering further evaluate mechanisms benefits mindfulness-based practices. Thus, in current investigation, we developed behavioral task requires manipulation negative (and neutral) material away from self (self-distancing), as means assess likely underlie healthy processing. In 2 nonmeditating, university samples, found higher levels self-reported 1 facet (the distanced experiences) predicted indicators self-distancing. Results suggest self-distancing shows considerable promise capturing at least element decentering. (PsycINFO Database Record
