摘要: Glucose control is the cornerstone of diabetes mellitus (DM) treatment. Although self-monitoring blood glucose (SMBG) still remains best procedure in clinical practise, continuous monitoring systems (CGMSs) provide a dynamic assessment shifting concentrations and facilitate making optimal treatment decisions for diabetic patient. As such, CGM could contribute to paradigm shift management glycaemic control, insulin administration more personalised. Such an approach makes it possible narrow daily fluctuations whilst decreasing incidence hypoglycaemic phenomena. This aspect paramount importance because improved has been shown be beneficial patients – healthcare industry– by reducing frequency severity associated complications [55]. Moreover, tight (TGC) acutely ill hospitalised significantly improves both mortality morbidity but requires frequent (often hourly) accurate testing [32, 33]. To meet specific needs intensive care units ICUs, specifically designed hospital meters are already commercially available new generation intravascular presently under development testing.
