摘要: Abstract Specimen damage and element loss induced by 3 MeV proton 2 alpha particle bombardment of thin sections freeze-dried kidney tissue embedding medium have been studied. Yields ions scattered from H C, characteristic X-rays were measured versus accumulated charge, for current densities in the range 8 × 10−15 to 1.1 10−11 A/smm2. Structural damage, discolouration S, Cl, C observed. Implications this study ion beam microanalysis biological tissues are discussed with particular reference results loss.
