摘要: Abstract The United States Department of Defense (DoD) recognizes growing climate risks across its responsibilities as land manager, operator hundreds installations, and in core mission to protect national security. However, DoD risk reduction is complicated by frequent leadership turnover among base commanders, which encourages focus on near-term challenges, changing US government priorities that downplay risk. We used risk-based deliberation, through workshops, with scenario-based fire flood impact modeling evaluate adaptation opportunities at bases the southwestern States. found success working installations hinges linking increasing climate-related impacts DoD’s ability achieve objectives installations.
