The present study examined the profile, inter-correlations and predictive correlates of repetitive boys fragile X syndrome (FXS), leading inherited cause ID. Specific child characteristics as predictors included anxiety, nonverbal cognition autism social-affective symptomatology.MethodParticipants were 39 FXS (aged 6-10 years). Repetitive measured using Behavior Scale - Revised (RBS-R) a 43-item caregiver-report measure normed on ID.ResultsRestricted Interests Sensory Motor reported most problematic for this sample boys, whereas Self-injurious less problematic. All subscales RBS-R significantly inter-correlated. Nonverbal IQ was negatively related, anxiety social affective symptoms spectrum disorder positively to scores Restricted Interests. Anxiety also related Compulsive Ritualistic Sameness behaviours.ConclusionsThis provides preliminary description FXS, which may form groundwork future research.
