摘要: Coal-black thyroid discoloration usually is identified in patients receiving chronic minocycline therapy. This report concerns the use of light microscopic, electron and energy dispersion spectroscopy pigments three separate situations: minocycline-associated black thyroid; idiopathic normally pigmented glands. One pigments, which found each situation, best described as neuromelanin. melanin pigment, like lipofuscin, appears to accumulate with advancing age. Pigment accumulation, therefore, a normal process gland. Accelerated pigment accumulation occurs therapy but can uncommonly be seen without associated treatment. Possible mechanisms for development these glands are discussed. Minocycline-associated also substantia nigra atherosclerotic plaques.
